Virat Kohli and de Villiers – the best duo in IPL?

What strikes the mind when we see something like this anywhere is how good both Virat and AB de Villiers have been for the Royal challengers Bangalore in the last 5-6 seasons. Both of them are arguably the best duo of the IPL so far. There are many such pairs which strike immediately when we are discussing the best duo of IPL, Dhoni-raina,Dhawan- Warner,hardik-pollard etc.

Restricting our focus on Virat and AB de Villiers for the RCB ,we have witnessed a few amazing knocks from both of them every now and then, they always have a hand in contributing to the victory of RCB. They have had more than five 100+ partnerships and two 200+ partnerships in IPL which is the most for any pair in IPL history. Both have performed consistently well for RCB and have emerged as pillars of RCB’s batting Line-up. The historic partnership of 229 of 96 balls vs Gujarat Lions which helped Royal challengers Bangalore post a mammoth 248/3 was also possible with the prowess of their batting, which resulted in the second highest total of IPL history by a team.

On a individual scale both have records to there name as well. Ab de Villiers has the second highest runs for a franchise in IPL. His famous 18 runs in Dale steyn’s over showed his T20 avatar and made him one of the successful batsmen in IPL . Virat Kohli had a dream run in the 2016 season with nearly 1000 runs and 4 centuries in that season.Winning games single handedly for the team is what both of them have been doing so far but have not been able to get their hands on the title because titles are won by team performance and not by an individual.considering any aspect of the game with regard to their batting from strike rate,Average,Runs 50s and 100s both have done exceptionally well with the kind of situation they bat and with the pressure of responsibility as senior batsmen of the team. On a concluding note they are the best duo so far in the IPL who bat in any sort of situation and can still make their team cross the winning line.
